European farmers will face several future challenges for agriculture and food production and consumption, especially regarding climate change and resource scarcity, technological change, infrastructural issues and food demand/dietary habits. The study ‘Farmers of the future’ explores who will be the farmers in the medium- and long-term future who will be dealing with those challenges. This report presents the results of this exploration, describing the 2040 landscape of farmers and possible policy implications.
